Recent Happenings

Well, I'm stepping out of the 40 hour gave and going to work for Sentara as an Audio/Visual Specialist. There are sure to be some interesting stories to come out of that job. For the first time in a long time I am excited about a job. I also got a flat tire which I discovered right after I quit my other new job at the insurance company. Luckily, my beautiful wife was able to come get me in the car and rescue me.

Back In The 40 Hour Grave

First Day Of Work
Well, I am back in the work force. I got a job editing videos for an insurance company. I put graphics on top of a voice over explaining insurance benefits. The money is pretty good, and the work isn't incredibly hard, but It get pretty boring, and I'm busy all day. I have never in my life had a job where I am busy all day. It's pretty weird, and it keeps me from doing other important stuff like blogging, and keeping up with all that is going on in the world. Don't get me wrong. I am happy to have a job, and money coming in, but it's a big change from the past three years.

5 Minutes with Chris Jordan

I've been a fan of Chris Jordan for a while now, and I think this short video does a good job of explaining his work.

When it rains it pours...

Interview Cloths

Well, today I had a second interview with CPActuaries to make some insurance benefits enrollment videos. The job is mine as long as we can agree on an hourly pay rate. While at the interview I got a call from Sentera Norfolk for a part time Audio/Visual Specialist job. This is a job I had applied for months ago, so I was surprised and excited to get a call from them. I have an interview with Sentera tomorrow.

Food Thoughts

I've been a vegetarian for a while now, and most of you have probably already heard that my reason for not eating meat is that it is bad for the environment. This recent NY Times article pretty much covers why eating meat is bad for the environment in just two pages. I'm not suggesting that anyone become a vegetarian, I just want everyone to think about the broader impact of there actions. In today's global economy, nothing is simple. Every product takes a very long and usually dirty journey to get to your hands. If everyone could alter your actions slightly they could have a vast impact. Sorry for th eco rant. I'll leave you with a quote form Michael Pollan who wrote The Omnivore's Delima. “Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants.”

Sketchy

Kellie and I did some art today. I've been making sketches and little drawings on the back of my old business cards. The above image shows what I've got so far. My inspiration is Gaping Void and Stef's Sketches. Click the image for a close up.
