On Unemployment
Well, I've been out of work for about three months. My severance ended at the end of the year, so now I'm really feeling unemployed. I have been searching for work and not had much luck. I have found that if you are an experienced librarian, you can definitely get a job in just about any city in Hampton Roads. It seems like there are a lot of Graphic Design jobs out there but I'll bet there is plenty of competition for those positions. I even applied for one as a bit of a lark. I am hoping something will come along soon because I am getting bored sitting at home because it is too cold to go outside. You'd think I would blog more...

yes. i would definitely think you would blog more.
this is a nice start though.
i'd think you'd hang out with rad strangers who stalk your interworld more. like john upton!
Ahh, I know the feelings. I could send some of my homework your way if you're looking to stay occupied.
I noticed the same things about librarians when I was looking for at jobs. If its any consolation I know you are capable of most anything. Head up!
I was in this exact position at this exact time last year. It thoroughly blows. It's hard not to get discouraged, or despondent. I don't have any profound words of wisdom, because one day a job will just stick, and you won't be able to take a nap at 2pm on a Tuesday anymore. So I guess enjoy that while you can?
i wouldn't think graphic design jobs down there would be too competitive, but i could be wrong. it's really tough here, though.
word of advice, i took that job as a proofreader the summer before i moved to richmond. DO NOT take a job as a proofreader, even if it is at a design/print company. i guess if it really comes down to it and you need something it would work, but you'd be unhappy just like i was.
best of luck to you my friend.
Hey! I'm a proofreader. It is not that bad, and the pay is better than you might imagine. Plus, it can lead to better editorial jobs. For most people.
I'm just sayin'.
